Clinical Rehab Liaison - RN, OT, PT, SLT Needed

Based in Edinburg, Texas - The Rehab Liaison receives patient referrals via phone or fax. He/she arranges for evaluations and reviews initial payor data. This individual secures appropriate contact information and assesses patient’s rehabilitation potential and suitability for hospitalization. They interview patient and family to gather information and determine special needs. They must adhere to admission criteria and present potential patients for approval at admissions meeting. They also inform physicians of pending admission and coordinate pertinent data with Business and Admitting Office. They represent the facility in all contracts with other health professionals and the general public in a manner which enhances the facility’s reputation. This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned. BLOOD-BORNE PATHOGENS EXPOSURE CATEGORY (OSHA) Category I: Exposed to blood-borne or potentially infectious material. Category II: Sometimes exposed to blood-borne or potentially infectious material. __X___ Category III: Not exposed to blood-borne or potentially infectious material. ______ QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must have at least two (2) years experience in medical or physical rehab setting. 2. Good organizational and liaison capabilities with well developed written and verbal communication abilities. 3. Demonstrated public relation abilities with cooperative and assertive attitude. 4. Working knowledge of Medicare guidelines for Rehabilitation. 5. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: Must have an earned Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited university and functional scope licensure/certification to function as a PT, OT, ST or RN to allow for scope of position. If RN, must be Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred. Must have a current RN, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy licensure in the State of Texas and maintain licensure and certifications. Must have and maintain current BLCS certification, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
