Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Farmville, VA Currently looking for a MLT ASCP for a position in Farmville, VA. The ideal candidate would have successfully completed an accredited Medical Technology program and possess 1 to 2 years of related experience. Responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood or urine, using a microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases and enter findings into computer. Analyze the results of tests or calibrations and quality control results to ensure conformity to specifications, using standards, processes and procedures. Perform and evaluate lab tests on patients of all ages in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Perform phlebotomy procedures. Maintain/record strict Quality Control on all test procedures and instruments in accordance with the departmental protocol. Calibrate, troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance on various instruments and documents all pertinent information in accordance with departmental protocols. Assist with departmental activities in Quality Assurance, Transfusion services, Performance Improvement, and productivity analysis as needed. Conduct duties in compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and/or Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA), and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. Perform clerical duties associated with test reporting, delivery, maintenance and retrieval. Perform standard training documentation checks for new employees and annual competency documentation as outlined in Laboratory Policy and Procedures. Provide care appropriate to the age, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patient served. Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate confidentiality rules and regulations and acts accordingly. Other duties as assigned. Requirements of the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a Medical Technology program which is accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or equivalent training, education, and experience 1 to 2 years related experience preferred ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized MT certification or categorical certification required Must meet CLIA qualification standards for high complexity testing personnel
